Wine tasting at the Lufthansa Lounge

Markus Del Monego, Master of Wine and world-class sommelier, presents a new wine that has found its way into the Lufthansa Lounge each month.

Located within the picturesque Franschhoek Valley in South Africa, which has been influenced by the French in the past, lies one of the Cape's oldest wine-growing estates: Allée Bleue. A wide alley lined with blue eucalyptus trees leading over the the Helshoogte Pass towards Paarl brings you to this estate. Its name also pays homage to the blue planet and to the water. The reed covered, snow-white farm house is an attestation of the proud winegrowing tradition which was once brought to this corner of the world by French Huguenots. More then 300 years ago they realized that this place offered the ideal conditions for the vines to grow. This tradition is continued at Allée Bleue with typical French grape varieties such as Semillon and Chardonnay. Here, vines can be grown which are allowed only within a few regions in France. The two grape varieties can be wed to a Cuvée which is partly completed within new barriques.

In October, guests of the First Class Lounge Munich can get an impression themselves: the 2008 Isabeau stands out with aromas of apricots, mango, passion fruit, citrus and a mild piquancy which is perfectly rounded by notes of butterscotch and fine roasted aromas.
