Farm location |

Paarl

Wine description |

Fermented in tank with temperatures peaking at 28 °C with post fermentation maceration for 2 weeks. 70 % tank matured and the rest in older barrels for nine months. Roasted almonds and ripe cherry fruit abound with (Independent review) savoury notes complementing the smooth mouthfeel. Spiciness from the Shiraz and Pinotage add extra dimension. A smokey nose with layers of cured meats, pepper, nutmeg and cinnamon. Rewarded by an elegant earthy palate with flavours of red currents, herbs, spices and a fresh lingering finish.

Food pairing |

Tapas plate of cured meats and pâté served with crispy baguette and gherkins. Cape bobotie with all the trimmings.

Awards |
